Identify two types of assessments discussed in the textbook. How could the use of technology impact the administration of these assessments? Do you feel that the incorporation of technology would be a benefit to administration? Why or why not? Provide specific examples to support your position.

Here is an example anwer.…….I will address the MCMI-IV and the MMPI-2-RF. Both of these assessments can now be administered via traditional means with pencil and paper; however, they are both also capable of being administered on the computer as well (Groth-Marnat, & Wright, 2016). The biggest benefit of being able to administer these assessments on the computer is that a computerized assessment can yield instant results after the assessment is completed. This is invaluable because it speeds up the assessment phase and can lead to a quicker diagnosis which means clients get help faster than ever before. I believe that in most cases this utilization of these assessments is incredibly beneficial to our clients. There will be instances however where certain clients are not technologically literate and pencil and paper mediums will be more beneficial.

The two types of assessments that I chose are the MCMI and the MMPI-2 and the MMPI-2-RF. Both of these assessments are available on paper and pen or taken via the computer. Upon completion of both assessments on the computer, the computer will generate the results and the MCMI will make suggestions on the diagnosis and treatment plans (Groth-Marnat, & Wright, 2016). Both assessment results will help the clinician along with the DSM-5 to make the appropriate diagnosis and aid in the treatment plan. The MCMI is a shorter assessment and takes approxminally 30 minutes to complete and when properly administered increases reliability and validity (Groth-Marnat, & Wright, 2016).

I do believe that these two assessments are beneficial in making a diagnosis and treatment plan along with the gathering of other information. An example is when administering the assessments on paper may increase risks of bias and then when interpreting the answers there is an increase risks for errors. On the computer, there is less chance for bias and for misinterpreting answers and getting false results which decreases the risks of misdiagnosing the client and maintaining the reliability and validity (Groth-Marnat, & Wright, 2016).
