PART 1 – Dimensions and Depth:
• You will often find vertical lines in the sides of doors, windows, columns, tree trunks, and the sides of a building.
• Horizontal lines are often found at the foundation of the building, above and below doors and windows, and on the horizon.
• Any straight line that is not vertical or horizontal will be diagonal.
• Curved lines appear in circular and rounded areas.
• Organic lines appear in natural objects, such as the landscape, people, animals, and treetops.
***DIRECTIONS: Turn everything in under one paper:
1. Find an image of a unique building that exists in the world. This means that you will need to do a little research.
2. You can pick any kind of structure but pick something that has interesting features. Picking a regular tall building is not really creative. Remember you can either find something in your city (Miami) or you can search the internet for structures around the world.
3. Print this image out and mark on it. OR copy it into a program that allows you to sketch/draw or mark on top of it.
4. Using colored markers or highlighters or different colors of marks on the computer, pick out and label ALL the vertical, horizontal, diagonal, curved, and organic lines. Remember to look into how windows and doors and other features of the building really work. There are lines everywhere!
5. After you have defined and noted the variety of lines, using colored markers or highlighters or a digital program that allows you to mark up the picture, look at which kind of line is most common.
1. Write your name (Jacqueline Gonzalez) and class reference number (Art 1000) on the image ON THE TOP RIGHT.
2. Take a picture of the image or scan it in and attach it to your submission.
3. Then make sure to answer the following questions in detail.

Research ONE of the colors listed and answer the following questions. (Green or Purple or Brown or Orange or Yellow)
1. Research and show information on word associations, emotions, ideas, and symbols that are related to the color you chose from the above list. DO NOT JUST COPY INFORMATION FROM A SOURCE…write your own statements from the research you did.

2. Does it mean the same thing in all cultures and countries?
3. Does it only have one meaning?

4. Why did the artist use this color? What research and information did you find about this artwork (the time period, culture, the history) that helps you understand the work and why he/she would have chosen this? What does it signify or try to communicate?
5. Would this work of art be the same if another color was present? Can you think of a better color that would have the artist could have used instead?
